Australian Open Day 7

The field is getting thinner and thinner and today we continue with a few shocks. Andrea Petkovic beat Maria Sharapova is straight sets. I thought Sharapova would be the slight favourite and possibly win a tough 3 sets but Andrea only took 5 games to dispatch her. She will play Na Li next as she beat Victoria Azarenka. Whilst I'm extremely happy that Na Li could potentially get back into the SFs like last year I think Azarenka really needs to step it up, she has yet to make the SFs of any Grand Slam.

On the upper half of the draw Caroline Wozniacki beat Sevastova easily whilst Schiavone beat Svetlana Kuznetsova in the longest Grand Slam women's match at just over 4 hours. Whilst I think the SF will probably be Wozniacki against Na Li I'm not 100% convinced Wozniacki will make the finals because she was the favourite to make the finals in a few Grand Slam draws in the past but only managed to make the finals once.

On the men's side most matches were pretty straight forward however Andy Roddick lost to Stanislas Wawrinka in straight sets, as I predicted. So it will be a Swiss affair in the QFs as Wawrinka will play Federer. I hope Wawrinka can push Federer into 5 sets again or even better beat him! Federer did take 4 sets to beat Robredo and earlier he took 5 against Simon so it's possible. Whilst on the other side Berdych beat Verdasco in straight sets. He will face Djokovic next who seems to be in very good form, he can potentially make the finals but the next two matches will be tough.
