Tennis ATP & WTA Week 8 (21/02/11)

Straight after Dubai we have the Qatar Ladies Open where most of the top players will be. Caroline Wozniacki, back at No.1, will lead the field with fellow teen Agnieszka Radwanska a potential QF opponent. Wozniacki had a breakout year last year but Radwanska has yet to make it big really, I wonder if this possible match up will be what Radwanska needs. Amongst other opponents in that section are Flavia Pennetta who has as much of a chance of making the QFs as Radwanska I'd say.

Schiavone will have Kuznetsova in her section again but not before Peer. Who will win between Kuznetsova and Peer? Well Kuznetsova has been gaining form so I'd put my money on Kuznetsova but Peer plays well in the Middle-East so it could be tough. Na Li will lead section 3 with only Jankovic a real contender here. Whilst Zvonareva will have Azarenka to contend with. The seeds have been doing well so I'd say in this draw the same will happen.

The women's Abierto Mexicano draw isn't out yet but the players list (bar qualifiers) are out. After the chaos of last week in the weaker draws I don't think placing a bet on any player will be clever but Gisela Dulko at once popped out to me after seeing the list. However anybody can win.

At the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships Roddick leads once again with a very American field, at least for the Top 4 seeds, all of whom are American. I really don't see any upsets if Roddick plays to his best, I'd like to see Juan Martin Del Potro make it far, he has been doing well recently so hopefully we'll see him in the final.

Yet again I don't think the draws are out for Dubai men's so I only have the players list to go by. Of course Federer and Djokovic will be a difficult duo to beat but Tomas Berdych has all the potential to do that. Mikhail Youzhny is fourth seed, whilst I don't know if he can beat the top 2 I'd say he's one to watch. Other threats in the draw include Victor Troicki, Gilles Simon and Nikolay Davydenko. Most of the players in this draw have potential to make it far but a lot of them haven't till now so it'll be risky to predict any of them getting to the SFs or finals.

The men's Abierto Mexicano draw isn't out either but there are a lot of names to look out for including Ferrer, Verdasco, Almgro, Wawrinka, Nalbandian, Dolgopolov, Monaco, Robredo, Chela and Milos Raonic. It'll be hard to break this list of players. Ferrer and Verdasco are the Top 10 stars any top draw needs. Almagro could potentially win two tournaments in two weeks - he's on a run here. Wawrinka, Nalbandian, Monaco, Robredo and Chela are all potential winners here I'd say whilst Milos Raonic is having a great run. Dolgopolov lost in round 1 last week but he should be fresh for this tournament.
